Description
Made by Thomas Heming in 1769 this octagonal gilted English sterling silver bowl has the crest of the Lascelles family from Yorkshire. The family stately home is Harewood House in Leeds. The most famous member of the family by marriage was the Princess Royal, only daughter of George V and Queen Mary. You can see in the pictures that whoever polished the family silver masked off the engraved crest at the center to preserve the engraving hence the slightly different color of the gold wash in the area of the crest. Fully hallmarked and also numbered as part of the Lascelles service. There is an applied band of gadrooning on the border.
