H8024 George III Silver Tankard Scottish Theme

A massive English silver covered tankard with a boar's head finial. The surface of the tankard is engraved and textured to look like Scottish tartan. The front has an applied wreath of thistles with a male figure in a Scottish regimental uniform holding a three dimensional mug. 'For Auld Lang Syne' is applied to the ribbon. There is a small monogram on the lower edge of the body and a later date of 1901 and the lid is inscribed 'Follow Me' on both sides. Gold washed interior and ornate applied handle. Height 9"; diameter at the top 4 1/4"; length across handle 7"; weight 50 troy oz. Maker Craddock & Reid, London 1821. Excellent condition.
