RH3653 Gorham Mixed Metal Tureen

An important Gorham mixed metal tureen and undertray. The hand hammered sterling silver tureen has multiple copper applications depicting flowers, leaves, chickens, birds, butterflies, crabs, fish and globules of sand in the Japanese style. The double handles are wrapped in silver wire. In addition to the Gorham marks, there is a date letter N for 1881. Tray 10" square; length 12 1/2" from handle to handle. Top of tureen measures just under 9" square; height 6 1/2" to top of handle. Total weight 95.65 troy ounces. This is an amazing rare suite.
