RH3982 A Fine Wendt Tureen with Turtle handles and finial

A remarkable smart sterling silver tureen engraved on front and back with an ornate applied border at the top of the tureen bowl. The lid is plain and is surmounted with a large cast turtle finial held in place with the original nut on the inside of the lid. The handles have two finely cast turtles held in place with two long threads capped with the simple finial at the bottom of each arm. The turtles have detailed scales in the shells and the handle finial has some detail on the ground below.

Marked English Sterling and retailed by Ball Black and Co. Circa 1865. Excellent condition.
